Welcome
Welcome to the Taunton Group of Amnesty International. We are one of a network of local groups around the UK that contribute to Amnesty International's work to defend human rights around the world.
Group members with their origami cranes of peace, which were sent to Hakamada Iwao, who is one of Japan’s longest-serving death row inmates, having spent 40 years on death row, 28 of these in solitary confinement
We are a friendly group of local people, ranging in age from our 20s to our 80s!
Our aims are to:
- Raise awareness locally about human rights issues
- Campaign with letter writing and lobbying
- Organise events and stalls
- Raise funds for Amnesty International
All friends and supporters are welcome to our monthly meetings, held from 8–10pm
on the second Tuesday of each month at the Silver Street Baptist Church, Taunton
TA1 3DH.
Contact us for more information or download the latest issue of our group newsletter (pdf).
The minutes from our last meeting can be found here.
